1 INT. TONY'S FLAT - DAY 1

Intense rain outside. Thunder in the distance.
We HEAR TONY, 30’s. Pensive. Intense.
TONY
Ya born... Ya die...
(pause)
It’s what you do inbetween that
counts.
A TV on in the background:
NEWSREADER
Tonight’s top news - the body of a
man was found today. Believed to be
in his 30’s, he was found with a
gunshot wound to the head. Police
are not looking for anyone else in
connection with the incident - as
suicide is the most likely cause.

2 INT. TONY’S FLAT - FLASHBACK 2

Another time - a happier time.
A PHONE vibrates. Tony quickly answers --
TONY
(into phone)
Babes. You ok?
We HEAR ALI -
ALI
(over the phone)
Just letting you know - a job has
come up. Check your black box.
There's something in there to tidy
the week off.
TONY
(laughs)
Checking up on me?
ALI
Just like to know you're safe. Make
sure you don't wear yourself out on
silly little boys - and save some
of that energy for me, ok?
TONY
Whatever you say.
ALI
I bumped into Jonesy earlier. He
mentioned a get together next
weekend. Might be nice to see a few
of the new faces?
TONY
Maybe... but yours is the only face
I need.
ALI
Save it for the weekend, lover.
She ends the call.
Tony begins dialling another number -
TONY
(to himself)
Right... Let’s have a look...
We HEAR BARRY, nervous sounding.
BARRY
(over phone)
Hello?
TONY
I was told to phone you.
BARRY
Are you -
TONY
(interrupting)
No names.
ALI (CONT'D)
2.
BARRY
Right. Yeah, sorry. I didn’t mean
to -
TONY
(interrupting)
No small talk either. You want to
discuss a job? We do it face to
face.
BARRY
But can’t I just -
TONY
(interrupting)
Not over the phone.
(pause)
There’s a place. Out of the way. No
prying eyes.
BARRY
(resigned)
Yeah... I was told.
TONY
Be there. Seven o’clock.
BARRY
But -
Tony ends the call.

3 INT. TONY’S CAR - MOVING - NIGHT

The ENGINE is on. The car is moving.
OVER WHICH, we HEAR the RADIO and the news headlines:
NEWSREADER
And now the news at seven o’clock -
The radio is abruptly turned off -
The car slows to a stop. The electric window winds down.
Outside is BARRY, edgy and uncomfortable.
BARRY
(nervous)
Shit, what we got to meet out here
for?
3.
TONY
(amused)
Scared?
BARRY
It’s creepy as fuck out here! Could
be anyone hiding in these bushes.
TONY
No one’s out here. That’s the idea.
BARRY
Yeah, well I’m not happy about -
TONY
(impatient)
Have you got the details?
BARRY
I wrote it down.
TONY
Then hand it over.
A package is tossed into the car.
BARRY
How about a lift back up to the
main road?
TONY
How about you stop asking stupid
questions?
The electric window quickly closes. We HEAR muffled, angry
protests from Barry outside.
A LETTER is RIPPED open.
TONY (CONT’D)
(reading)
Well well...
(amused)
Can’t say I didn’t see this one
coming, you greedy prick

4 INT. TONY'S FLAT - NIGHT 4

The door opens - Ali enters - keys tossed on to a table - ice
thrown into a glass - whisky poured -
TONY
(amused)
Don’t I get one?
ALI
(taking a big swig)
Pour your own.
TONY
Thought you’d be back sooner.
ALI
(evasive)
Just needed to clear my head.
TONY
Headaches bothering you again?
ALI
No more than usual - on the plus
side, you now have the whole night
off.
TONY
(surprised)
You tagged that banker?
ALI
Sorry, lover. I know you were
looking forward to it but think of
the money. That’s one final demand
he won’t recover from.
TONY
(amused)
Brutal... yet sexy. You fancy
heading out?
ALI
Sure. I’m gonna go clean up.
TONY
You got it.
She leaves the room -
Tony’s phone RINGS:
5.
TONY (CONT’D)
(into phone)
Jonesy?
JONESY
(over the phone)
Got a little job for ya if ya want
it.
TONY
Oh?
JONESY
That little prick Dave. He owes
three weeks. Tired of waiting.
TONY
No worries. Send me his number.
JONESY
While you’re on, organising a get
together next weekend - strictly
pleasure. No business. Be good to
see you an Ali there if yer up for
it.
TONY
Ali mentioned it. Sounds good.
JONESY
See you there, then.
Jonesy ends the call.
Over the noise of the shower:
ALI
(in the shower)
Who was that?
TONY
Jonesy. I got a bit or ironing to
do across town. Twenty minutes. You
be ready when I get back?
ALI
Just you be careful playing with
those rats. You might catch
something.

5 EXT. STREET - CONTINUOUS 5
Over music: NO GODS.
6.
On Tony, walking. Angry, determined steps. He dials a
number on his phone.
DAVE answers:
DAVE
(snappy)
What?
TONY
Don’t “what” me, you little prick.
DAVE
(suddenly realises who
he’s talking to)
Tony?
(shitting it)
Erm, hiya mate.
TONY
I’m not your mate. Where’s Jonesy’s
money?
DAVE
Tell Jonesy I’m sorry. Been a slow
month. You know how it is.
TONY
I see your shit on every street
corner. You’re selling it to
everyone. You’ve got the money
alright and I’m gonna -
